about

In 2009, while on our 2nd NZ tour, my good frjend Jo Little and I found ourelves broken down for the 2nd time in a one dog town called Shingle Creek. It seriously has one pub and one dog. It was winter and while we waiting in the pub for a tow truck the woman behind the bar described in a husky smokers voice that the cold mornign had brought a terrible 'HORE frost" and that the fog was "thick as pea soup". Needless to say this song was born

lyrics

Vs1
Engine blown in a billow of smoke
As we rolled on into town
The Ffg was like a thick pea soup
Hore frost gripped the ground
Big old moon was on the rise
Night was deadly still…
But was broken by a sudden cry
Of a night bird on the hill

Ch
Break down, down, down
In another lonely town
It’s true I stole my baby’s car
Bad luck for me (I didn’t get too far)
Break down, down, down
I always have bad luck
This time I’m stuck in Shingle Creek
In a broke down pick-up truck

Vs2
While I was being faithful
Your picture in my pocket
Turns out you were putting your fuse in someone else’s socket
I’ve been with you for way too long
I thought our love was good
But the only thing that was hot about you
Was the smoke pouring out the hood

Ch
Break down, down, down
In another lonely town
It’s true I stole my baby’s car
Bad luck for me (I didn’t get too far)
Break down, down, down
I always have bad luck
This time I’m stuck in Shingle Creek
In a broke down pick-up truck
This time I’m stuck in Shingle Creek
In a broke down pick-up truck
