I wanted both of my children to have a song that I relate to them on this album. The Orchard is Matilda’s. It took me a long time to sing this song without tearing up. She’s a tough wee cookie and we’re very lucky to have her. This song epitomizes my daughter and I wanted to share it on this album. It was recorded in one take, live in front of a microphone the way I play it for her when I sit at the end of her bed with my guitar.
